Finding the right karate school, style, and instructor in Bryan / College Station can be a very overwhelming and perplexing endeavor.

 

However, I can suggest the following steps to assist you in your search for the right place for lessons:

 

You have to find the Martial Art School that fits YOU.  Find a karate school that will make YOU feel comfortable and satisfied.

 

I would strongly suggest to try out the karate school first before you make a long term commitment. Trying out for one day training session or for a month trial period will give you a good idea of what to expect. It is worth the time and investment.

 

KEY THINGS TO LOOK FOR

 

1. Make sure that the school is a Licensed Martial Arts School.

2. Are the Instructors Certified to teach and hold current credentials with accredited instructor program?

3. Are there Background Checks performed on Instructors?

4. Make sure that the instructors have been trained in Youth Protection / Child Safety.

5. Is the school Insured?

6. Are the instructors certified and up to date on First Aid & CPR?

7. Is the school kept clean, professional, and equipment in good shape?

Q:  Can I attend a trial class before signing up?
 
A:   Yes, we offer a free lesson. We want you to be sure that this is the right sport/fitness program for you. We only ask that, the participant, or parent/guardian of a minor, to sign a waiver release of liability before lessons.

Q:  Can my child do martial art lessons if he/she is not the athletic type?

 

A:  Yes! In fact, martial art lessons is often a “home” for kids who don't excel at team sports. Kids who have trouble in baseball, basketball, etc. often come to martial arts and do extremely well. And it's okay if your child is not athletic right now. Through our classes, they'll get in great shape and become very athletic.

​Q:  Will karate lessons give my child pride and confidence?

 

A:  The positive feedback children receive helps build their self-esteem and confidence. Kids feel good knowing they can do something that's cool, exciting, and special.

Q:  Will there be other beginners in my karate class?

 

A:  Yes! Our members come in all experience levels, shapes, ages & sizes. If you're a beginner, you'll fit right in.

Q:  How many people are in a group class?

 

A:  At peak times, there's between 15-30. Some times have more, some less. But we make sure to have       enough instructors to match the class size. That way you always get the attention you need.

Q:  What level of fitness is required for martial arts lessons.

 

A:   You don't have to be in great shape to start. The great thing about martial arts is you can be at any fitness level and do great. That's because there's no rush or pressure to do anything quickly. You can learn at your own pace. If you have a knack for it, you can speed through techniques. If it's a bit harder for you, take your time. All we care about is that you're having fun, learning and progressing, and staying safe.
